Joker Of The Week Nods

Friday, March 13, 2009

Hola bloggers,

Well, we've got an interesting list this week. Happy voting!

BeBe Winans - For being arrested for domestic violence yesterday. BeBe! How many wanna bet Oprah won't be asking him to sing on her show any time soon after this one?

Lil' Kim - For shouting out her prison buddies on Dancing With the Stars. Demonstrating yet again, that you can pay for school but you can't buy class.

Michael Steele - For apologizing to Rush Limbaugh (of all people) for offending the "great one" when he called Limbaugh's stance "ugly" and "incendiary" on D.L. Hughley Breaks the News. Man up Steele. You were right to call him that and to say that he was not the de facto leader of the republican party. But by turning around and bowing and scraping when Limbaugh went off on you, you kind of made it look like Limbaugh IS the leader. You are not off to an auspicious start as the head of the RNC.

Bernard Madoff - For stealing billions from people and pleading guilty yesterday to multiple counts of securities fraud. I hope he gets 150 years. That kind of callous greed is a disgrace and unconscionable.
Joaquin Phoenix - For allegedly quitting acting, becoming a rapper, performing, jumping off stage to confront a heckler and then being removed by security in Miami. Oh Emperor, how you have fallen.

Joker Of The Week Nods

The Joker of the Week polls are BACK folks. This week's list is actually a little tough....

  1. Christian Bale - For cursing out the director of photography on the set of Terminator 4 for four minutes! While it was funny, I don't care how big of a star you are, you should not treat people that way.
  2. Etta James - For her sour grapes over not singing "At Last" at the Neighborhood Ball to the first couple. She said, “You guys know your president, right?” You know the one with big ears? Yeah, wait a minute. He ain’t my president.” Classy 'till the bitter end Etta.
  3. Michael Phelps - For smoking weed in front of someone with a camera and being suspended from USA swimming.
  4. Tom Daschle - For knowing that he wanted to be in Obama's cabinet for MONTHS, not paying his taxes and then withdrawing from the process at the last minute.

Joker of the Week Nods

Hello bloggers!
I have quite a few contenders for Joker of the Week. I honestly am not quite sure who I am voting for, although I'm leaning in one direction....
Have a great weekend!
Angelina Jolie - For flaunting her adulterous affair and being completely disrespectful to the sanctity of marriage and another woman. Boo!

"Reverend Donald Spitz" - This nut responded to one of my Palin-related blogs last week that it was perfectly acceptable to bomb abortion clinics because they are sinners. He then told me to say this prayer: "Dear Jesus, I am a sinner and am headed to eternal hell because of my sins. I believe you died on the cross to take away my sins and to take me to heaven. Jesus, I ask you now to come into my heart and take away my sins and give me eternal life." LOL. What a nut job. I'm a Christian and I'm saved, but right wing conservative Christians slay me with their hypocrisy. Murdering doctors, patients and innocent passersby is righteous? Give me a break.

Acid Throwing Terrorists - These radical Taliban supporters threw acid in the faces of schoolgirls in Afghanistan who were walking to school. The Taliban is completely against women obtaining an education and these nuts wanted to punish and terrorize teens going to school. Two girls were blinded in the attack and others suffered injuries. Sometimes it is really difficult for me to understand the lack of humanity in this world.

Silvio Berlusconi - In a conversation with a Russian leader, much to the chagrin of his countrymen, Italy's Prime Minister said of President-Elect Barack Obama, ''Obama is young, handsome and also tanned, so he has all the qualities to agree with you." Let's put aside the lack of logic in this statement (i.e. because someone is handsome they would be more inclined to have similar political views as another political leader). But Tanned? Really?

Kanyeezy - The jury is still out, but apparently Kanye West was arrested AGAIN at the airport today for some sort of altercation. Kanye pull it together. You are not above the law!

OH MY. Congrats to Sarah Palin for a first in CITC history. She was named the Joker of the Week two weeks in a row! Not only that, but she has garnered more votes than any other nominee in CITC history. Let's put that in perspective--former nominees include George Bush, Bill O'Reilly, Larry Craig, Naomi Campbell, Kanye West, Diddy, murderers, rapists, racists, sexists, a rapper who tried to sneak a cake file into Rikers' Island to visit his girl--some real losers. But Sarah "moose-huntin' hockey mom" Palin beat them all. This is clearly one contest that she will not come in second. I'm tempted to nominate her again because when pitched a softball question to outline her foreign policy credentials at a recent town hall meeting--she couldn't name one!! She just said she'd be ready by January. (insert blank stare).

I won't nominate her, but I've got some other whoppers this week for you to choose from. Happy voting!

  • Sen. John McCain - For saying that the "fundamentals" of the American economy are strong on a day when the stock market dropped five million points, and then having the audacity to say that the "fundamentals" of the economy are the American people. Yeah, right John; For having a surrogate spokesman for his campaign say that neither McCain or Sarah Palin have the skill set to run a company (LOL); AND for not knowing who the prime minister of Spain is, saying Spain (A NATO ALLY) is an adversary, and he won't meet with Spain basically if they don't agree with us. His attitude and ignorance are making headlines across the world--as Spain is shocked to find out that it is an enemy of the U.S. Spain is now an adversary??! Who knew? Why because Zapatero pulled Spanish troops out of Iraq when he took office? This is truly unbelievable. McCain's ignorance/belligerence is ridiculous given that foreign policy is supposed to be his area of expertise...Even the White House issued a statement saying that Spain is our friend.

  • Kanye West - I could not let his revenge of the nerd style attack on the paparazzi at the airport go unnoticed. Easy Yeezy.

  • Dr. Phil (courtesy of Lily Lily) - Apparently, Dr. Phil was on Larry King live and was asked to discuss the psyche of the female voter during this election. During that interview, Dr. Phil said he was undecided. First--who the heck cares what he thinks? Shouldn't he be off stalking Britney Spears or some other troubled starlet? Second, he's undecided? WHAT? Umm, unless you have been under a rock, don't know the issues, and don't know your own views--what the heck is there to be undecided about? There could not be a clearer choice between Obama and McCain as they are polar opposites and anyone who is trying to figure out which way the wind is blowing is actually baffling to me--particularly someone in the "media" who by trade should have been following this from the beginning.

  • Lady Lynn Forester de Rothschild - This insanely rich former Hilary Clinton backer publicly endorsed John McCain this week. Why? Lady Rothschild said, "Frankly I don't like him. I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him." She then went on to say that Obama offended "rednecks" by calling them bitter. Umm--Rothschild is married to a billionaire, lives on a massive spread in Buckinghamshire and jet sets between London and New York. And the very people she says Obama is out of touch with--she called "rednecks." Wow. Hypocrisy at its finest. She's just salty because her candidate lost and she's letting her bitterness and likely racism drive her to a candidate that presumably is diametrically opposed to her views. Loser.

  • Wall Street insiders, greedy corporation, Republican de-regulators, the Bush administration, etc. - Whoever is to blame for the Wall Street woes...
Honorable Mention - The Blacks Against Obama who interrupted Senator Obama's speech today. It is fine for people to disagree with his views on abortion and rights for homosexuals. African Americans are not a monolithic group or blind followers of candidates based on race. But I believe one sign said that Jesse Jackson hates Obama--so basically Obama is not for African Americans. I'm all for free speech, but I hate stupidity.
--------------------

NEW ITEM! Every week we acknowledge the jokers--but we need to start acknowledging those we're proud of too. So, every nomination will now include a shout out to someone who did something we liked. This week's winner:

Republican Senator Chuck Hagel, who said of Sarah Palin:

"I think it's a stretch to -- in any way -- say that she's got the experience to be president of the United States. She doesn't have any foreign policy credentials. You get a passport for the first time in your life last year? I mean, I don't know what you can say. You can't say anything...

I think they ought to be just honest about it and stop the nonsense about, 'I look out my window and I see Russia and so therefore I know something about Russia. That kind of thing is insulting to the American people."

I couldn't have said it better myself Chuck!

It appears that Michelle Malkin will edge out the security guard and the L.A. Lakers and take the Joker of the Week crown for last week. But who pray tell will dethrone nutty Malkin to take the crown this week? I don't know....So many contenders, so little time.

Ralph Nader - For saying of Barack Obama recently, "There's only one thing different about Barack Obama when it comes to being a Democratic presidential candidate. He's half African-American. Whether that will make any difference, I don't know. I haven't heard him have a strong crackdown on economic exploitation in the ghettos. Payday loans, predatory lending, asbestos, lead. What's keeping him from doing that? Is it because he wants to talk white? He doesn't want to appear like Jesse Jackson? We'll see all that play out in the next few months and if he gets elected afterwards." He went on to say, "I mean, first of all, the number one thing that a black American politician aspiring to the presidency should be is to candidly describe the plight of the poor, especially in the inner cities and the rural areas, and have a very detailed platform about how the poor is going to be defended by the law, is going to be protected by the law, and is going to be liberated by the law. Haven't heard a thing." Wow. Nader's comments are so unbelievably patronizing, insulting and based on such generalizations that I don't know where to begin. Obama is talking white because he's articulate? Because he's running a national campaign and has to appeal to all voters? All black people are poor? All black politicians have an obligation to speak exactly the same? Nader is irrelevant and ridiculous at this point.

Maria Sharapova
- For losing in the second round of Wimbeldon to a player ranked 154th in the world and then for being insulted by the player after she lost. After beating Sharapova, Alla Kudryavtseva said, "I don't like her outfit. It's a little too much of everything. ... It was one of the motivations to beat her." HAAAA!

Keyshia Cole, Her Mama and Her Sister - For Coles' craptastic BET Awards performance, her mother's general demeanor, and her sister's ill-fitting dress.

Shaq - For being stripped of his sheriff's badge after insulting Kobe in a freestyle rhyme. Shaq rapped - "You know how I be, Last week Kobe couldn't do without me...I'm a horse,Kobe ratted me out, That's why I'm getting divorced." Now, the basketball jab was funny, but I hardly think Kobe is the reason Shaq is getting divorced. Try fidelity Shaq.

Don Imus - See previous post.

Honorable Mentions:

Kanye West - For his rant against the Bonnaroo folks. He's the king alright--the king of hyperbole. He said, "This Bonnaroo thing is the worst insult I've ever had in my life. This is the most offended I've ever been ... this is the maddest I ever will be." Geez, didn't he say the same thing about the MTV video awards last year when they had him performing in the suites instead of on the main stage. I mean, "Stronger" was made for stadiums people. STADIUMS!!!!!!

Rick Ross's belly -
No explanation needed.
