New York, NY (September 28, 2011) – Oprah Winfrey and O, The Oprah Magazine bring the “Live Your Best Life” mission to Atlanta on Saturday, October 15 with O YOU!, an interactive day of seminars and workshops with O contributors and Oprah’s hand-picked experts that will empower and entertain attendees, just as the magazine does each month for its 15.5 million readers. More than 5,000 attendees will participate in lifestyle seminars and workshops at the Georgia World Congress Center, including:
Editor-at-large Gayle King will introduce keynote Lisa Ling of OWN’s “Our America with Lisa Ling.”
May We Help You?, featuring Dr. Oz, Suze Orman and Martha Beck, will provide answers to your most pressing questions.
Finding Your Passion, with New York Times best-selling author and O’s resident life coach Martha Beck; political strategist and O contributor Donna Brazile and Emmy Award-winning television host and O columnist Suze Orman. Find inspiration in real women who have made “the leap” and learn how to follow their lead.
Feeling Good, Looking Better, led by cardiac surgeon, health expert and O columnist Dr. Mehmet Oz, fitness expert and O contributor Bob Greene, O creative director Adam Glassman and beauty director Val Monroe, who will discuss health, fitness, fashion and beauty.
Your Stuff, Your Story will be led by interior design expert Nate Berkus and organizational management expert Peter Walsh, both O contributors. Our possessions reveal so much about our inner and outer lives. What story do yours tell, and how can it be rewritten to fit YOU better?
A special session with Oprah Winfrey, who will inspire attendees with a candid discussion of her own personal journey and next chapter.
Between seminars, attendees will spend time interacting through on-site experiences including:
L’Oreal’s complimentary hair and makeup touch-ups that will get attendees ready for their close-ups, just in time for photos to be taken and uploaded to Facebook or Twitter. Guests will also be treated to full-size samples at the L’Oreal Sample Bar, and iPad stations will ask women to tell us “Why They Are Worth It.”
IKEA’s kitchen, storage closet and media center vignettes, which will give attendees the chance to explore and design their own spaces with the help of consultants – and the chance to win gift cards to make their dream room a reality. And, all of the furniture featured at O YOU! will be donated to the Furniture Bank of Atlanta, which provides furnishings to individuals and families transitioning to secure housing from homelessness.
Truvia will be offering sweet treats in the form of Vitamin Water and CasCal, as well as strawberries dipped in Truvia, and a photo booth, so friends can commemorate the day. Attendees can browse Truvia recipes, and ask questions to a nutritionist. Truvia will also host the Sweet Tea Lounge on the 2nd floor.
Crest & Oral-B Complete have invited CSI Miami’s Eva La Rue to meet attendees and discuss how she juggles her roles as a mom and a star on the most-watched television show in the world. Guests can sample Crest products and receive a hand massage with mint-scented lotions.
OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network will showcase its new fall lineup including “The Rosie Show” and “Oprah’s Lifeclass,” both premiere on Monday, October 10. OWN talent will make appearances throughout the day, and guests can sign up for the companion online class of “Oprah’s Lifeclass” series.
QVC’s resident foodie and host of In The Kitchen With David®, David Venable, will share cooking tips and personal recipes to help home chefs feel at ease in the kitchen.
Nancy G. Brinker, the sister of Susan G. Komen and founder of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a foundation dedicated to breast cancer awareness, research and education, will speak and sign her new memoir Promise Me.
Additional activities include book signings at a Barnes & Noble bookstore; designer table settings and lunch served on Chinet; a Clorox women’s lounge with an “Inspiration Wall” for attendees to share a simple change that made a big difference; Kleenex is inviting participants to “share comfort” with loved ones through digital postcards and to treat themselves with ‘O’-shaped lollipops with inspirational quotes on the stick; a Nature Made pharmacist and a dietician will offer advice on vitamins; Spanx “booty bar” will highlight their famous shapewear and offer a Tight-End Tights give-O-way; a Trollbeads artisan will demonstrate the glass-bead-making technique and reveal a special O YOU!-inspired bracelet; plus erasable FriXion Point pen from Pilot Pens and tasty, healthy samples and recipes from T-Fal ActiFry.
