Forget Black Friday or Cyber Monday: Reasons to shop Small Businesses and an Ode to Small Business Saturday

Saturday, November 19, 2011

This holiday season, why not think about shopping at your local or favorite online small business shop?  With the upcoming 2nd annual Small Business Saturday®, we thought we'd show some small business love.  The 2nd annual Small Business Saturday®, is a fabulous shopping day dedicated to supporting small businesses
on one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year.  No, we're not just talking about the coveted Black Friday sales or the clicking frenzy that is Cyber Monday.

We're talking about the little known phenomenon that is Small Business Saturday.

This year, November 26 is dedicated to the universal call to shop small business.  From your favorite local stores to your favorite online shopping havens, shopping small can make a huge impact on the economy.  There are a few good reasons to shop small business other than just getting that fabulous one-on-one touch.

When it comes to personal service and commitment to the community, small business owners have a hand  on the pulse of service.  From donations to contributing goods and personal time, small business owners know what it takes to get personal.

From my personal experience, small business owners are great with volunteering in communities, whether its hosting fashion events that bring awareness or donating goods for charity events, small business owners know what it takes to be a good neighbor.  Since most small business owners operate their businesses from the comfort of their own homes or within a few miles from their homes, they believe in contributing their time, money and goods to building a strong community.

Finding the perfect unique holiday gift is quite easy.  NO pesky lines or mall hopping.  And the personal customer service?  It's unparalled.  Small business owners know they are competing with big business to bring you the same goods.  Therefore, they go the extra mile to make sure you're happy, content and comfortable with your customer service.  Most small businesses, including local fashion bouitques offer goods that are custom, handmade and locally made.  No worries about showing up rocking the same outfit as your co-worker during your office holiday party.  Go unique, Go fabulous and Go small to make a Huge impact on the economy.

Go Small or Go HOME!

Which small business will you be supporting this year and the next?
