A message to the preggers and non-preggers out there
Wednesday, January 2, 2008
Ok, so some of you know that I'm 5 months pregnant--second child-- and I just need to vent for a quick sec. Why do people think that the fact that you're pregnant gives them a free pass to insult you? For instance, my husband's aunt--who needless to say does NOT resemble Beyonce---had the nerve to go on and on about how "big I am". Her comments were more annoying because she repeatedly commented on my size when I was pregnant with my daughter. I just gave her my infamous "whatever" look but I really wanted to say "But, somehow I am still SMALLER than you" but I decided not to because I didn't feel like a war with my husband. I must say that her comments really hurt my feelings. Before seeing her that day, I was feeling good and looking good, if I must say so myself--my face was glowing, make-up fresh, hair done and cute outfit and then for someone, a family member, no less, to ridicule me, it hurt. All day Saturday I kept asking myself, "why would someone go out of their way to hurt my feelings?". But now, I understand--she's ignorant and rude, of course, but also she's a hater. She's so happy that she can finally point out something that she views as one of my physical flaws. And it makes her feel good to say that I've joined the "big girls' club". Next time, I'll be ready for her and when she says "you are so big", I'll kindly ask her why the size of my stomach bothers her so much?" and keep on walking. For 2008, I don't have time for the foolishness. Yes, my stomach is big--I'm pregnant and frankly, my stomach didn't actually go down flat from my pregnancy with my 2 year old daughter. But you know what, SO WHAT? I'm carrying a life and that in and of itself, is a beautiful thing. So, to all the pregnant beautiful women out there, hold your heads and tummies up high and strut your stuff like you're the ANTM! When the "haters" comment that you're so big just smile and say, "______". Fill in your own comeback line BUT just know that whatever someone says about you, don't let it get you down. And for all of the non-preggers out there, if you don't have anything nice to say, "keep your mouth closed". For all the women out there who've had kids, let's not forget how you looked when you were pregnant..pretty sure that you didn't resemble Beyonce while you were preggers. And for all the women who haven't had kids yet..well, you NEVER know what you'll look like... so don't be quick to judge.

sounds like she has some self-esteem issues that she has to call out a pregnant woman. who's next the elderly?
ahhh you gave me flashbacks...lol..
while carrying my daughter my mother (a huge lady) kept saying I must be having a boy as I had put on soooo much weight (said with eyes rolling)...and constantly saying I gone way over x kilograms so I would struggle to take it off... said nothing but watched each time I took a bite of food.... discuss with her girlfriends on the phone the incredible amount of weight I had put on (in her mind)Ahhhh
Girl you be proud, those that comment A. havnt had children or B. have chronic body issues of their own...when my mother went on I would give a sly smile and walk away...cause my 'weight' would soon be a beautiful girl, and hers wasnt going anywhere....
So i had the last laugh..and my g/f's always gave me a lift with comments on how fine i looked ...sometimes its hard but just try not to take it on
she's def got issues............
all imma say is i'm proud of you for knowing that you will speak up next time. and let me say, that if you don't speak up, don't guilt yourself about it. you are a work in process (i said process on purpose, it's my thing, lol). just you knowing that her shyt is hers...is enough for you to heal. if you do speak up, great. if you don't, still hold ya head high. cuz you ain't ownin nobody else's bullshyt. you hear me? i love you
